Fasting coupled with prayer is a time to get closer to God. Fasting is a sacrifice, denying the flesh of something that is pleasant or enjoyable. The abstinence of food, TV, social media or usage of the telephone whatever fast your led to partake. Times of consecration should be spent seeking God, reading His Word and listening to hear His voice with clarity and confidence. When fasting corporately or in private looking to God's infinite wisdom should be the believer's priority. There are several bible scriptures to refer to while fasting.
Daniel 10:3 ....I had eaten no rich food. No meat or wine crossed my lips, and I used no fragrant lotions until those three weeks had passed.
Matthew 17:21 "However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting."
Isaiah 58:6 "Is this not the fast that I have chosen; to loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?"
Believers should not condemn anyone or yourself for stopping before completing the fast.
The purpose of fasting is deeper than food, it is ultimately about seeking God.
